OutBritain Community Terms & Conduct

At OutBritain, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful space for everyone. Our community is built on the belief that everyone deserves to belong in business — and that belonging starts with how we treat each other.

By engaging with OutBritain — whether at events, online, or through our programmes — you agree to uphold the following standards.

1. Respect across differences

Our community is made up of people from many backgrounds, cultures, faiths, and political perspectives.
We see this diversity as a strength — and we celebrate it.

We ask every member to:

  • Respect that others may think, believe, and live differently from you
  • Engage with curiosity, not judgment
  • Disagree without being disagreeable

Different views are welcome. Disrespect is not.

We do not tolerate:

  • Hostility, hate speech, or harassment
  • Bigotry, discrimination, or exclusion of any kind
  • Homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, ableism, or any form of prejudice

You don’t have to agree with everyone — but you do have to treat everyone with dignity.

2. Be yourself — without being offensive

We celebrate individuality, authenticity, and self-expression.
At the same time, being yourself should never come at the expense of someone else’s comfort or safety.

That means:

  • No sexual harassment, unwanted advances, or inappropriate comments
  • No explicit, aggressive, or suggestive behaviour
  • No conversations that create an unsafe, uncomfortable, or intimidating environment

If it wouldn’t feel appropriate in a professional workplace, it’s not appropriate here.

3. Professional conduct, always

OutBritain is a community rooted in opportunity, growth, and connection.
We expect members to:

  • Communicate with courtesy and professionalism
  • Respect boundaries — personal and professional
  • Engage in a way that reflects the values of inclusion and integrity

Networking should feel empowering, not pressured or uncomfortable.

4. A safe and inclusive space

We are proud to create spaces where LGBTQ+ people and allies can show up fully — without fear of judgment, discrimination, or harm.

If behaviour threatens that safety, we will act.

OutBritain reserves the right to:

  • Address behaviour that violates these standards
  • Remove individuals from events, programmes, or platforms
  • Suspend or terminate membership where necessary

These decisions are made to protect the wellbeing of our community.

5. If something doesn’t feel right

We encourage members to speak up.

If you experience or witness behaviour that goes against these principles, please contact us confidentially at:
info@outbritain.co.uk

Every concern will be taken seriously and handled with care and discretion.

6. Disability, neurodiversity & accessibility

We recognise that our community includes people with different abilities, access needs, and neurodiverse experiences — and we value that deeply.

We also know we won’t always get everything right. And that’s okay — because inclusion is something we build together.

We commit to:

  • Creating environments that are as accessible and welcoming as possible
  • Listening when something isn’t working
  • Learning and improving as we go

If you have:

  • A disability
  • Access requirements
  • Neurodiverse needs
  • Or suggestions on how we can make our events, spaces, or communications easier to engage with

Please let us know. Your feedback helps us do better — and helps make OutBritain a community where everyone truly belongs.

You can share access needs or suggestions confidentially at:

Our commitment

OutBritain exists to unlock opportunity, build confidence, and connect communities.
We believe you can be bold, authentic, and proud — while still being respectful.

That’s how we create a space where everyone can thrive.
